Mimi's Strawberry Cake, Flower Tablescape Series, Original 9x12 Watercolor

$225
An original, one of a kind mixed media work completed with gouache and watercolor on rag paper. This work is part of EH's 2024 TABLESCAPE series, colorfully painted watercolors that whimsically explore the meaning that tables hold for families and communities. Tables are a place where bread is broken, lessons are learned, and prayers are spoken. They’re at the center of our memories–where birthday presents are opened, glasses are clinked, and you always remember the time your grandmother kicked your grandfather in the shins from across the table. Tables hear laughter, your dad’s prayers to be kind to one another, and the slams of a door after an argument. They’re a constant in the family photos where the people in them change and grow up. They sit for the parts of life that feel mundane in the moment and yet mean everything when you look back. EH hopes the colorful, whimsical style in the works reminds you of the brightest parts of the table: the people who surround them.

Each work is named for something that reminded EH of sitting at the table. She hopes some of them are cliche enough to resonate with you.
