behind the scenes: NEW travel mugs
Happy Tuesday!
I am so grateful to have so many wonderful people interested in my art and with that always comes a lot of product ideas and suggestions. One thing that I have been asked about the most the last 7ish years is TRAVEL MUGS! I have been eager to get some designed too and the ongoing interest kept me going as I figured it out. Here's the thing---if manufacturing a new product was easy, this website would be filled with agendas, puzzles, wallpaper, cocktail napkins, pajamas, etc, but there's A LOT that goes into product development and design behind the scenes. I don't have a secret guidebook any directing me on how to do X, Y, and Z; I'm just enthusiastic about art, work hard to learn what I need to, and seek advice when possible. I put great care into finding manufacturing partners that are able to work with an artist like myself and sometimes that takes awhile.
When I first starting planning the tumbler product launch around January, I had set Fall 2020 as the earliest possible date because I needed to first reformat nearly 200 files to print correctly on these tumblers. I had experimented with a few designs last Fall and determined that the map series look the best. So, I mapped out the year so that I would be reformatting 20-40 files per month, but, when the quarantine "stay home" began and old plans disappeared, I filled some of the free time with this tumbler project. Every night for almost all of April, I would watch tv with my parents and edit these files on my computer! That said, this is a labor of love and I'm VERY happy to share that travel mugs are now available on my website.
I've had the best time taking these from weekend flower hunts to the weekday office and hope they brighten your everyday adventures too. You can ship all travel mugs here. There are 170+ places in this series and I just added: Mackinac Island, Turks & Caicos, Burlington VT, Lexington VA, Jupiter FL, Lake Tahoe, Napa Valley, the Highlands, and Ocean City MD.
Enjoy! XX
