SMALL WAYS TO DESTRESS

BUY A PLANT

Houseplants like succulents and ferns aren't just trendy; they have actual benefits for your health. "Greenery and nature help us feel more relaxed and calm, which in turn benefits your everyday mood. Indoor plants serve a practical and aesthetic purpose, and will enhance your life" (NBC News). If you're not sure if you can keep a plant alive, try this faux succulent set or these topiaries

WATCH THE CLOUDS

Get in touch with your inner zen through cloud watching, the best way to meditate with nature.

JOURNAL

I have friends that carry journals with them everywhere so they can jot down their thoughts in times of stress. Sometimes just writing it out can make you feel a little calmer! Studies even show that while writing can sometimes upset you more at first, it will eventually help you relax. "Writing helps people organize thoughts and give meaning to their experiences" (Harvard Health).

UNPLUG

Seriously, put your phone away.

READ A BOOK

Reading can take your mind off anything. I shared some of my favorites here

GO FOR A DRIVE

Going for a drive is a great way to unwind. Elite Daily says long, solo drives even have "healing powers."

TRY A FACE MASK

I'm obsessed with Fresh and keep this mask and this mask on frequent rotation.

DO A SMALL ACT OF KINDNESS

Start with one of these ideas from Oprah.

FIND A RELAXING SCENT

Scents like these can transform your mood, and pine has been shown to reduce stress. Here's a pretty one!

TAKE A NAP

Experts say you should aim for about 20-45 minutes for maximum brain and health benefits (The Guardian). Get a cozy blanket, block out sunlight with this, set your alarm, and snooze away.

WALK OUTSIDE

You can experience more creativity, a better mood, and reduce stress from just 15 minutes. And those are just 3 of the 15 benefits you can get from walking. Read more of them here. Also, this is a great excuse to pick up these for extra motivation!

POUR A CUP OF TEA

FYI---these are the best teas for stress-relief.

BAKE SOMETHING

Baking is a delicious way to be alone with your thoughts and eat some cake batter in the process. I've gotten some really sweet recipes from here and here

TURN UP THE MUSIC

Here's why music is important if you didn't know.
