An Animal Print Exclusive >> Behind the Scenes Inspirations
In case you didn't already hear, a stampede of color marched into my online shop on Monday in the form of these bright, happy, & NEW animal prints! If you're as obsessed with these colorful little animals as I am, you'll love seeing what inspired them.
GISELE THE CHEETAH
If you've seen Queen B the Cheetah, you probably already knew I have a love for painting spotted felines. A couple of different photos inspired the drawing of this illustration (Queen B included!), but it was model Gisele who gave her personality and sass! Join Gisele the Cheetah in being fierce, and you'll find yourself spotted with gumption + style.
LULU THE ELEPHANT
Can you tell I love elephants yet? Drawing elephants has been cool since Rembrandt, and I added a little extra style the this one by draping a geometric blue pattern on her back.
And yes---you read right. Lulu the Elephant got her name from one of my dogs. Lulu's the happiest little maltipoo, and I wanted to instill this elephant with her loving spirit.
The choice to name this little number after Beyonce was easy. I don't think I need a reason to justify it, but it was something about the leopard's confident pose. She's the kind of animal who will inspire you to hustle + make things happen!
COCO THE CAMEL
Why name her after a Coco Chanel perfume bottle? Because awkward camels can be elegant too (and she just kind of looked like a Coco to me). Coco's showing off her fashionable side in a pink ikat throw. With Coco the Camel, you can dare to be different.
ZOE THE ZEBRA
Take a walk on the wild side with Zoe the zebra. Zebra's are quirky, as is New Girl's Zooey Deschanel (hence the inspiration for her name). I pictured my Zoe in a field of green, so she's surrounded by a mix of grassy hues.
TIBI THE TIGER
Tibi the Tiger (not to be confused with Tony the Tiger) was the last to join my stampede. In the end, the assymmetrical stripes + bright green eyes drew me in (and I also couldn't get Eye of the Tiger out of my head). Since tigers love stripes, I felt the pattern-loving Tibi would be the perfect fit for a name.
